Just like his infatuation and hence the "football media's" obsession with Brett Favre, John Madden is to blame for football fans' mancrush on Ed Hochuli's arms. Watching some Packers vs. Cowboys from 1995 on NFL Network last night, I realize those arms weren't always an integral part of Ed. But just like he manned up in the gym, he manned up by admitting his error and facing head-on the ridiculous levels of ire and hate spewed in his direction, even gracefully and personally answering hate email. Like a friend said, I'm more pissed about not being able to get replay on the first half Chambers catch/Bailey steal. In an era when most viewers watch ten replays within two minutes in HD, somehow the stadium can't provide refs with anything other than a giganto cameraman viewer to see something every TV commentator has already seen twenty times.
Let's not forget, Broncos still had 3rd and goal from the ten and a two point conversion to make. Ted Cottrell's defense then decided to shepard them on in with nose tackle Ryon Bingham dropping into coverage on both 4th down and the two-point conversion (which looked like virtually the same play.) Weddle for the second week in the row arrives just not in time. So to recap, three times in two weeks the Chargers defense could have won the game by simply not giving up the end zone on one snap but failed miserably each and every time. After watching Adrian Peterson set a NFL record by rack up 300 yards rushing and then Brandon Marshall nearly set the NFL receptions record with 18 along with the 0-3 in game on the line situations this year, you have to wonder about Cottrell's ability to make adjustments. Turnovers saved the Chargers last year but turnovers are partially luck. Maybe its time for Ron Rivera to step in but AJ would never fire Cottrell since they go back to Buffalo. As much experience as Cottrell has, doesn't anyone remember how he was dismissed from his last two gigs at the Jets and Vikings and had to go to the league for work?
